Assassin’s Creed turns 20 in 2027. The first game launched on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on 13 November 2007 in North America, and on 16 November 2007 in Europe. Ubisoft has confirmed it is planning a year of celebrations, but it has not yet named any dates, games or events.
This page gathers what has been confirmed, what is only rumoured and what it means for Xbox players. We will update it as Ubisoft shares more.
What Ubisoft has confirmed about AC20
Ubisoft first confirmed the anniversary in its Assassin’s Creed Fall 2026 Update, published on 29 October 2026 by Head of Content Jean Guesdon. The update says the team is “preparing a year of reveals, updates, rewards, and community moments”, and that the plans are “still tightly wrapped in secrecy”. Celebrations kick off in 2027.
The update also revealed the AC20 logo: a silver “20” with the Assassin’s Creed insignia forming the zero, above the word “Anniversary”.
A day later, on 30 October 2026, the official Assassin’s Creed UK account on X posted a short video teaser with the message: “Next year is the 20th Anniversary of Assassin’s Creed, and we’re looking forward to celebrating with you! #AC20”.
We covered the announcement when it landed: Assassin’s Creed 20th anniversary celebrations confirmed for 2027.
What we don’t know yet
Ubisoft has not confirmed any of the following. Treat claims elsewhere with caution until it does.
-
- Any dates for anniversary events, streams or showcases.
-
- Which games, if any, will be revealed or released as part of AC20.
-
- What the promised “rewards” are, or which games or platforms they apply to.
-
- Any anniversary collection, remaster or re-release. Ubisoft says no other remake is actively in development (see below).
-
- What the block of coded text at the end of the Fall 2026 Update means. Ubisoft has not explained it.
Upcoming Assassin’s Creed games and their status
The table below only lists projects Ubisoft has named, plus clearly labelled reports. Nothing here has a release date.
| Project | Status | What’s known |
|---|---|---|
| Codename Hexe | Confirmed, in development | Ubisoft Montreal. |
| Ubisoft calls it a darker, narrative-driven game. Jean Guesdon is creative director. Next major update due in 2027. No release date or platforms announced. | ||
| Codename Invictus | Confirmed, in development | PvP multiplayer game led by For Honor veterans at Ubisoft Montreal. After a private Insiders Session, it is being reworked to reflect more of the series’ core pillars. No release date or platforms. |
| Assassin’s Creed Jade | Confirmed in March 2026; current status unclear | Mobile game made with Tencent. Ubisoft listed it among projects in development in March 2026 but left it out of the October update. Ubisoft has not said it is cancelled. |
| Further remakes | Confirmed: none in active development | Ubisoft says it has “no other Assassin’s Creed remake actively in development”, without ruling out future ones. |
| Unannounced projects | Confirmed, details unknown | Ubisoft says teams are working on unannounced projects with new settings. It has also said it is looking into bringing back co-op. |
| Netflix live-action series | Confirmed, no date | Production is nearing completion in Rome. Hannah Peel is the composer. No release date. |
What’s reported but not confirmed
-
- Hexe’s setting (reported): outlets including Game Informer and Bloomberg have reported a Holy Roman Empire setting with witch hunts. Reports differ on the century, and Ubisoft has not confirmed the setting.
-
- A 2027 launch for Hexe (rumoured): some outlets mention rumours of a 2027 release. Ubisoft has only promised a “next major update” on Hexe in 2027, which is not the same as a release.
-
- Jade’s cancellation (speculation): Mobilegamer.biz has asked whether Ubisoft has quietly dropped Jade. It has not been confirmed.

Updates for current games
-
- Assassin’s Creed Valhalla gets New Game+ on 5 November 2026, alongside an optional Power progression mode, new runes and achievements, a stash and a Naoe-inspired Master Assassin outfit. Ubisoft says the game has passed 40 million players and that more news on current-gen console updates is coming soon. Full details here.
-
- Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced received its final major update on 27 October 2026, adding New Game+ and Nightmare Mode. Ubisoft says smaller quality-of-life updates will follow.
-
- Assassin’s Creed Shadows moved into its final phase of support in March 2026, with smaller, less frequent updates.
What AC20 means for Xbox players
Until Ubisoft details its plans, there is no confirmed AC20 content for any platform. Here is where Xbox players stand right now.
-
- The two newest games are on Xbox Series X|S but not in Game Pass. Shadows and Black Flag Resynced are paid releases. Both are available through Xbox Cloud Gaming if you own the game and have Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate.
-
- Most of the back catalogue is in Game Pass Ultimate. Through Ubisoft+ Classics, Game Pass Ultimate includes Mirage, Valhalla, Odyssey, Origins, Syndicate, Unity, Rogue Remastered, Black Flag, III Remastered, The Ezio Collection and the Chronicles games.
-
- The Xbox 360 originals still work. Assassin’s Creed, II, Brotherhood, Revelations, III, IV Black Flag and Rogue are all backward compatible on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
-
- No platforms have been announced for Hexe or Invictus. We will not assume an Xbox release until Ubisoft confirms one.
