What is The Séance of Blake Manor?
It’s 28 October 1897. Private investigator Declan Ward arrives at Blake Manor, a remote hotel in Ireland, to look for a missing woman, Evelyn Deane. Nobody seems to have noticed she’s gone. Instead, he finds a group of mystics from around the world gathered for the Grand Séance, timed for All Hallows’ Eve, when the veil between the living and the dead is said to be at its thinnest.
You play in first person, exploring the manor’s corridors, interviewing and interrogating the guests, and logging evidence, motives and clues in your journal. When you’re sure of a deduction, you confront the suspect with it. Environmental puzzles open up the hotel’s forbidden areas and what lies beyond them.
Time is the catch
Every action you take moves the clock on. The guests keep their own schedules, so you need to be in the right place at the right time to catch key events, and a mistimed move can cost you a conversation. You’ve got until the séance to find Evelyn.
The game draws on Irish mythology and the Victorian spiritualist movement, with a comic-book art style and a soundtrack that reacts to your surroundings.
