Smalland 2: Lost Realms has its first gameplay trailer, and the tiny-scale survival sequel is now aiming for a 2027 launch on Xbox Series X|S.
Maximum Entertainment has given its first real look at how Smalland 2: Lost Realms plays. The trailer also confirms the game is now targeting 2027, which the publisher says will let it “deliver the best experience possible.”
What the trailer shows
Members of the development team walk through what’s new. You can see the perk system in action for the first time, along with the new resource gathering and crafting systems. Climbing and swimming, which had only been teased online before, also appear in a trailer for the first time.
Perks let you shape your Vanguard around combat, survival, magic or companions. You can climb trees, roots and rocks, and swim across water, managing your stamina to reach hidden paths and riding currents to get around faster.
A prequel steeped in folklore
Lost Realms is set long before the events of Smalland: Survive the Wilds, in an ancient age inspired by European folklore and ruled by creatures such as Pookas and will-o’-the-wisps. You play a Smallfolk Vanguard sent into uncharted territory after the Great Owl predicts a disaster heading for the land.
Instead of one continuous map, the game spans multiple distinct realms, each with its own hazards and creatures. You can tame and ride wild beasts, build settlements, and play with up to 10 players in co-op.
