Smalland 2: Lost Realms is the prequel to Smalland: Survive the Wilds, and it’s now targeting a 2027 release on Xbox Series X|S. Here’s everything we know about the folklore-filled survival game.

What is Smalland 2: Lost Realms?

It’s a tiny-scale survival adventure set “long before the Giants ever walked the land”. The prequel takes place in an ancient age inspired by European folklore, where creatures tied to the earth, such as Pookas and will-o’-the-wisps, rule an untamed world.

You play as a Smallfolk Vanguard, sent far from home to explore uncharted territory. The Great Owl has predicted a disaster heading for the land, and it’s up to you to stop it.

When is the Smalland 2 release date?

There’s no exact date yet. Maximum Entertainment confirmed on 28 October 2026 that the game is now targeting 2027.

How much will it cost?

The price hasn’t been announced, and pre-orders aren’t open. You can find it on the Xbox Store now.

Is it on Game Pass?

Not as far as we know. It hasn’t been announced for Game Pass, and the first game isn’t on Game Pass either.

What are the main features?

• Distinct realms: multiple unique lands instead of one continuous map, each with its own environments, hazards and creatures
• Forage and harvest: gather materials from plants and minerals to survive
• Craft and build: make armour sets, weapons, tools and settlements
• Perks: tailor your Vanguard towards combat, survival, magic or companions
• Climb and swim: scale trees, roots and rocks and swim across water, managing your stamina and using currents to move faster
• Tame and ride: win the loyalty of wild beasts so they can carry you, share the load and fight alongside you
• Co-op: team up with up to 10 players to share supplies and build together

Smalland 2: Lost Realms trailer

The first gameplay trailer arrived on 28 October 2026. In it, the development team talks through the perk system, resource gathering and crafting, plus climbing and swimming, which hadn’t appeared in a trailer before.

Do I need to play the first game?

No. Lost Realms is set before Smalland: Survive the Wilds, so it’s a good starting point. The original is on the Xbox Store for Xbox Series X|S if you want to try it first.
