Dog Man: Bark in Action, Mindscape and Floor 84’s new comic-book platformer, is out now on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One for £39.99 / $39.99. It’s the first Dog Man game with local co-op.
Dog Man: Bark in Action is based on Dav Pilkey’s Dog Man books. Dr. Scum has set up Hypno Screens around the city to mind-control the townsfolk, and it’s up to Dog Man, part dog and part man, to stop him and his minions, save his friends and rescue the city.
What do you do?
You switch between Dog Man and his Supa Buddies, Li’l Petey and 80-HD, each with their own abilities for getting past obstacles. You can also phone in friends such as Commander Cupcake and Chief, for 10 playable characters in all.
There are 60 levels set in places from the books, including Cat Jail and Robo-Time Industries, along with Time Challenges and hidden Mystery Levels. Sprockets unlock gadgets and yarn crafts outfits such as the Scarlet Shedder and Cat Kid. Each character has a signature fighting move for Dr. Scum’s minions and the bosses.
A second player can join on the same sofa with their own special abilities.
Not sure yet? A free demo with two levels, Robo-Time Industries and City Hall, is on the Xbox Store.
