What is Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy?

It’s a third-person survival horror game with an Italian neo-giallo twist, mixing stealth and psychological horror with new mechanics built around perception, hypnosis and environmental manipulation. It closes the Red Nun’s story for good.

Is it on Xbox?

Yes. It’s out now on Xbox Series X|S, and the Standard Edition is an Xbox Play Anywhere game, so one purchase covers Xbox and PC. It isn’t on Game Pass.

What’s the story?

You play as Susan. More than a year after six young girls vanished in Sicily, a mysterious recording suggests her daughter, Agata, could still be alive. Against all reason, Susan heads to where it all seems to have begun: a decaying noble residence on the slopes of Mount Etna, once owned by the Ashmann family. There she finds relentless Stalkers, hidden symbols, hypnotic phenomena and the forgotten story of the Cristo Morente, the Sicilian convent where the myth of the Red Nun began.

How does it play?

  • Stalkers: murderous enemies hunt you. You hide, evade and fight back in critical moments. You can slow them down or put them out of action for a while, but they never stop hunting you.
  • Hypnosis powers: retrocognition, mirror abilities and moth manipulation let you read forgotten memories, reveal hidden paths and twist the environment.
  • Exploration: search rooms for clues and key items, solve puzzles to open new areas, and backtrack to places you’ve already visited.
  • Saving: the game autosaves, and Metronomes return as save stations.

How long is it?

Around eight hours for a first playthrough, depending on how much you explore. There’s one difficulty level, a single ending and no New Game Plus.

Do I need to play the earlier games first?

No. You play a new character, and it’s designed to work as a standalone game, though the earlier chapters add extra context.

What’s in the Deluxe Edition?

The Deluxe Edition (£33.49 / $39.99) includes the full game, a digital artbook of almost 100 pages with character and environment art, and a 25-track digital soundtrack, including three bonus Yamaoka studio session tracks.

Who’s in the cast?

Cissy Jones voices Susan and Maggie Robertson plays the Red Nun. The soundtrack is by Akira Yamaoka and Aram Shahbazians. The game has full English voice acting, with interface and subtitles in 13 languages.

Does it support HDR?

Not at launch. Stormind says it will share any updates through its official channels.

What accessibility options are there?

There are customisable subtitles, colour blindness modes for protanopia, deuteranopia and tritanopia, controller remapping and an option to turn off vibration.

We’ll update this page as patches and news arrive. Everything else lives on our Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy hub. Are you going in? Tell us on X or Facebook.
