Scramble Knights Online is out now on Xbox in Game Preview, and it’s a day one Game Pass game for Ultimate and PC Game Pass members.

Funktronic Labs launched Scramble Knights Online on 26 October 2026. It’s an “MMO-lite” action RPG where you play a knight-in-training in the shared online kingdom of Terracott, teaming up with other players to take on quests, clear dungeons and beat bosses. It’s on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Xbox Cloud Gaming, and it’s in Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

Because it’s a Game Preview, the game is unfinished and will keep changing while it’s in development.

What you do in Scramble Knights Online

You can play solo or in online co-op with up to four players. Quests are short, with top-down combat against electric slimes, rock-hurling crabs and dungeon bosses. Dungeons have puzzles and secrets, and you can run into other groups of knights out in the world, either to team up or to clash with them in PvP invasions.

Between quests you head back to the Town Square to hang out, fish, upgrade your gear and form a party for the next run. Quests reward gems, crafting materials and rare loot, which you use to forge weapons and armour and try out new builds. If you die, you spectate the rest of your team as a chicken.

It started out as a battle royale

In a launch-day Xbox Wire post, Funktronic Labs explained that the game began life as Scramble Knights Royale, a battle royale. Players at its first public playtest liked the world and the exploration but not the battle royale side, and commenters kept saying they would play it “if it wasn’t for the PvP”.

The studio tried other PvP modes before going back to the idea co-founder Eddie Lee kept returning to: “Adventure With Friends.” It rebuilt the game as co-op PvE with MMO-style progression, added the Town Square hub and renamed it Scramble Knights Online. Funktronic says the change took less than six months, after nearly four years of work on the game in total.
