Fancy a go at being Bond without paying a penny? IO Interactive has released a free Starter Pack for 007 First Light on Xbox Series X|S, letting you play the game’s full opening mission in Iceland at no cost.
The Starter Pack is available now from the Xbox Store, and it gives you your first steps as a young James Bond in that Iceland mission. IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios say any progress you make carries over to the full game if you decide to buy it, so you won’t have to replay the opening if you upgrade.
There’s an Xbox discount running at the same time, too. IO Interactive says 007 First Light is 40% off on Xbox Series X|S from 5 November until 15 November. The Standard Edition has dropped from £59.99 to £35.99 on the UK Xbox Store, and from $69.99 to $41.99 in the US. The store listing shows the offer ending at 9:59am UK time on Monday 16 November.
007 First Light on Xbox at a glance
- Free Starter Pack: Out now on Xbox Series X|S (the Iceland opening mission)
- Progress: Carries over to the full game
- Standard Edition sale price: £35.99 / $41.99 (normally £59.99 / $69.99)
- Discount ends: 15 November (9:59am UK time on 16 November, per the Xbox Store)
What is 007 First Light?
007 First Light is IO Interactive’s reimagined James Bond origin story, made by the studio behind HITMAN. It launched on Xbox Series X|S on 27 May 2026 and comes in Standard, Deluxe, Collector’s and Legacy Editions.
The Starter Pack is a sensible move. If you’ve been on the fence since launch, the Iceland mission is a free way to see whether IO Interactive’s take on a younger Bond is for you, and with the sale running until mid-November, it’s a cheaper jump to the full game if it clicks.
The Starter Pack isn’t a Game Pass offer, and 007 First Light isn’t in the Game Pass library, so this is the way to try it without buying.
