Build your Ludus, then let the crowd decide

The road to the championship runs through your Ludus. You scout the market for overlooked talent, expand your facilities, hire staff and turn untested recruits into crowd favourites. Brain Seal says rest, morale and recovery matter as much as training, so a school that cuts corners will pay for it on the sand.

Fights play out as tactical auto-battles, either one-on-one duels or team clashes. The outcome comes down to the skills, loadouts and positions you choose beforehand, and you’ll want to win over the spectators, because in Rome the crowd has a say in how the day ends.

Key features, according to the publisher:

  • Choose your Dominus and lead your school against rival Domini
  • Build and manage your Ludus, from facilities to your fighters’ needs
  • Recruit and train gladiators, from hidden talent to champions
  • Equip fighters with Roman weapons, armour and fighting styles
  • Tactical auto-battler combat in duels and team battles
  • Win the crowd to influence your gladiators’ fate

Brain Seal is the UK studio behind Story of a Gladiator and the Dark Quest series, so it’s not exactly new to the arena. Dominus Gladiatus is playable in 16 languages, with full English audio and subtitles.

The publisher’s launch price is £16.99 / $19.99, with a 20% discount at launch. You can grab it from the Xbox Store.
