What is Assassin’s Creed Origins?
Set in Egypt during the reign of Cleopatra, it follows Bayek of Siwa, a Medjay, and his wife Aya as they seek revenge for the murder of their son, a quest that leads to the founding of the Assassin Brotherhood.
Origins brought role-playing elements to the series, including character levels and loot, along with a new hitbox-based combat system and a large open world of deserts, cities, tombs and pyramids. Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, it was released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on 27 October 2017, and is optimised for Xbox Series X|S.
How to play Assassin’s Creed Origins on Xbox today
Assassin’s Creed Origins has native versions for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, with Smart Delivery. It is included with Game Pass Ultimate through Ubisoft+ Classics, which has been part of Ultimate since October 2025. Editions and remasters
There is no remaster. A free update added Discovery Tour, an educational mode for exploring the world without combat, which has its own small set of achievements.
