Mouthwashing is a first-person horror game about the dying crew of a shipwrecked space freighter, the Tulpar.

When is Mouthwashing out on Xbox?

It’s out now. Mouthwashing launched on Xbox on Thursday 29 October 2026, after it was announced for Xbox at the ID@Xbox x IGN October 2026 Showcase.

Is Mouthwashing on Game Pass?

Yes, from day one. It’s included with Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass, and you can play it on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and in the cloud. It carries Xbox’s Handheld tag, which means it’s optimised for handheld play. It was added to Game Pass October 2026 Wave 2 after the showcase, and our Game Pass launch news covers its arrival. It isn’t part of Game Pass Essential.

How much does it cost?

£10.74 or $12.99. It’s an Xbox Play Anywhere game.

What is the story?

Five crew members of the Tulpar are stranded in the empty reaches of space, shrouded in perpetual sunset. Their captain, Curly, doomed them all, but he survived: maimed, limbless and unable to speak, he’s now at the mercy of the crew he condemned.

The ship will run out of power within six months, and the food rations will run out long before that. There’s zero chance of rescue.

How does it play?

  • First-person horror: explore the dying ship and follow the crew as they weather starvation, isolation and each other.
  • Story first: piece together the crew’s fractured history and what really happened aboard the Tulpar. Paying attention to your surroundings matters.
  • Psychological scares: the further in you go, the harder it gets to tell delusion from reality.

Has it won any awards?

Yes. Critical Reflex says it won Best Narrative and Players’ Choice at the Horror Game Awards.

Who makes it?

Wrong Organ developed it and Critical Reflex publishes it. Critical Reflex is also bringing No, I’m Not a Human to Xbox and Game Pass in 2027.

We’ll keep this page updated, and our Mouthwashing hub has everything in one place. For more on what’s arriving soon, see our Game Pass coming soon list.
