The METRO Redux Next-Gen Update is out now on Xbox Series X|S. It’s a free upgrade for Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux, adding true 4K at 60fps, upscaled 4K at 120fps, Xbox Play Anywhere and full support for ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X.
What the Metro Redux Next-Gen Update adds
Both games can now run in true 4K at 60fps or upscaled 4K at 120fps, with 4A Games’ own TSR upscaling and anti-aliasing for a sharper image. 120fps is on Xbox Series X and needs a compatible display.
The visual upgrades go beyond resolution and frame rate:
- More detailed textures
- A refined lighting and shadow system
- Richer environmental detail
- Better animation
- Higher-quality particle effects, improved sound and spatial audio support
- Impulse Triggers support on the Xbox Wireless Controller
Both games now support Xbox Play Anywhere, so one purchase covers Xbox consoles and Xbox PC, and they are fully supported and optimised for ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X. Every change has been tuned to keep the look and feel of the original games.
“METRO’s apocalyptic worlds don’t just look better than ever before, they feel better to explore too,” said John Bloch, METRO franchise executive producer at 4A Games, in his post announcing the update.
