Painted Red Gallery, the new expansion for Marmalade Game Studio’s Cluedo, is out now on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One for £6.49 / $7.99. It brings a new board, a fresh murder and a new rule called Double Reveal that gives you two answers for every suggestion.
The case is set in an exclusive art gallery. Owner Mr Boden “Boddy” Black announced it would open to the public for one night only, then turned up dead an hour before the doors opened. Only six people had early access that night, so they’re your suspects.
Double Reveal
Normally in Cluedo you get one card back when someone disproves your suggestion. With Double Reveal, which works when you play Painted Red Gallery in Standard mode, every suggestion gets two responses. That’s twice the information from every guess.
New suspects, weapons and rooms
The usual cast is recast for the art world: Art Critic Scarlett, Gallery Security Guard Mustard, Art Dealer Plum, Assistant Curator White, Celebrity Influencer Green and Registrar Peacock. Each has a backstory to uncover as you play.
There are six new weapons (the Gavel, Tie-Down Straps, Power Drill, Glass Shard, Art Piece and Display Katana), nine rooms and nine more case files to work through. Completing case file tasks unlocks themed cosmetics: a player avatar, a card back, a clue sheet, a dice set and 12 new tokens.
Is it in the Epic Crime Collection?
Yes. Painted Red Gallery is part of the Cluedo: Epic Crime Collection, which also comes with the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions, so if you already own one of those it’s added to your game. On its own it needs the base game.
If you don’t have Cluedo yet, the base game is £3.74 / $4.99 (down from £14.99 / $19.99) until 5 November, and the Ultimate Edition is £19.24 / $20.99 (down from £54.99 / $59.99). Neither is on Game Pass.
