War Robots Update 12.5 is out today, and its Halloween Interlopers event brings a retro alien invasion inspired by H.G. Wells’ The War of the Worlds, with a tripod robot that turns into a flying saucer.
The new robot in War Robots is Nekton, a three-legged machine that retracts its legs to fly, wraps itself in an Absorber shield and fires a built-in beam that applies BLAST. Damage soaked by the shield extends the ability, and any extra time cuts its cooldown.
What else is in Update 12.5?
- Mesmer: energy beam weapons in light, medium and heavy sizes. Each extra Mesmer on a robot adds to the damage of its single beam.
- Object: a drone built for flying and Absorber-shielded robots, at its best with Nekton.
- Roswell: a mothership that lifts your own robot into the air for a better view, extra protection and a damage boost.
- Ultimate Loki and Ultimate Gust: Loki now turns invisible after a kill, and comes with upgraded Gust shotguns.
- New pilots: The Martian for Nekton and Mesmer, Orson Barret for Ultimate Rhino, and Darian Grief for Ultimate Loki.
- Ground Zero: controlling the map’s central point now grants combat buffs.
The event runs with daily rewards, and finishing it earns the Halloween Interloper title.
