Cyberpunk 2077 Now Supports Xbox Play Anywhere

Cyberpunk 2077 now supports Xbox Play Anywhere, so one digital copy covers Xbox Series X|S and PC, with saves carried between them. It landed on the same day as the Edgerunners 2 Update.

Cyberpunk 2077 has picked up Xbox Play Anywhere support. The badge is now listed on the game’s Xbox store page, meaning one digital purchase unlocks both the Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC versions (and supported Windows 11 handhelds) under the same account. CD Projekt Red confirmed it on Xbox Wire today, 22 October, alongside the new 2.5 update.

It turned up with little fanfare, tucked in as a “one more thing” at the end of that Xbox Wire post, but it’s a useful one. Owners can sign in to the Xbox app on PC and find the game waiting in My Library, ready to install. Saves, achievements and add-ons, including Phantom Liberty, should follow via cloud saves in the usual Play Anywhere way. Phantom Liberty is sold as a single Xbox and PC add-on on the Microsoft Store.

Physical disc copies do not unlock the PC version. The Xbox One build is also still limited. It received its last patch on 8 November 2022, and later patches and Phantom Liberty still need an Xbox Series X|S console. CD Projekt Red’s announcement only mentions Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Timed with the 2.5 update

The support lands on the same day as CD Projekt Red’s latest free update. Update 2.5, the Edgerunners 2 Update, is out now on PC and Xbox Series X|S. It ties in with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, which premiered on Netflix on 20 October, and brings a dual-wielding playstyle for pistols and revolvers, cyberware customisation and cross-platform mod support.

With Play Anywhere active, anyone who owns the game digitally on Xbox can jump into the new content on console or PC right now. If you don’t own it yet, the Xbox Store had it at £14.99 (down from £49.99) at the time of writing, with the offer listed until 5 November.

How to check

Head to the Cyberpunk 2077 page on xbox.com or in the Xbox app and look for the Xbox Play Anywhere badge under the capabilities. Sign in with the same Microsoft account you used for the original digital purchase. New to all this? Our Xbox Play Anywhere explainer covers how it works.

It’s another notable third-party title joining the Play Anywhere list after the fact. If you’ve been sitting on a console copy and wanted an easy route onto PC, this is it.
