CD Projekt Red is heading back to Night City with a big new free update for Cyberpunk 2077, out now on 22 October on PC, Mac, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Nintendo Switch 2 and the Mac App Store version follow in the days after. It arrives two days after Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 premiered on Netflix on 20 October. The Edgerunners 2 Update (2.5) brings anime-inspired content, a long-awaited combat feature and a stack of quality-of-life tweaks designed to pull players back onto the streets of Watson and beyond.
The headline act is dual wielding. The new Double Trouble perk in the Cool tree, backed by four supporting perks, lets you double up on Power-category pistols and revolvers for much faster, more chaotic gunfights. CD Projekt Red has also opened up cyberware customisation. Equip Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire or the Projectile Launch System and visit one of five new Glamdocs to restyle them. There are also five new clothing sets at Night City vendors, NPC-only hairstyles now available for V, and a new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, playing tracks from the Edgerunners series.
What’s in it for Edgerunners fans
The new side quest, Clampdown, is a prequel to Edgerunners 2. It sees V help Weak Kingsley, one of the show’s main characters, and his crew on a risky gig at a brand-new location, Night City Prison. To unlock it, complete The Heist and two gigs for Wakako, then wait for her message. Along the way you can pick up a five-piece gear set based on the character and his signature revolver, Coronation.
Everything else
- Cross-platform mods: mod.io support lets you browse and install a selection of community mods from the in-game menu, including on Xbox Series X|S. On console, achievements can’t be earned while playing a modded save.
- Welcome to Paradise: a new side quest and guided tour of Night City narrated by Richard Night. It unlocks after The Heist once you reach Street Cred level 15.
- 12 new Minor Arcana tarot cards to hunt down, tied to an extension of the Fool on the Hill quest.
- Quality of life: saves grouped by playthrough, filters for apartment and vehicle stashes, and an FOV slider on consoles.
- Tech: performance optimisations, including for ray tracing and PS5 Pro, improved HDR, and DLSS 4.5 support on PC.
With Night City expanding once again, this update is a natural point to dive back in. On Xbox it’s an even easier one: Cyberpunk 2077 now supports Xbox Play Anywhere, so a digital copy covers Xbox Series X|S and PC, with your saves carried between them. Our Xbox Play Anywhere explainer covers how that works. The update doesn’t come to Xbox One, which stopped receiving patches in 2022.
