The October 2026 Xbox console update is rolling out now, bringing Mythic Achievements, a choice of startup animations and a way to clear out old game saves.

It is OS version 10.0.26100.9647, released on 28 October 2026, and most of these features were tested with Xbox Insiders in September.

Mythic Achievements

You earn a Mythic Achievement by completing all of a game’s original achievements. Later DLC or update achievements are not required, and Mythic status is yours to keep.

Mythic Achievements are also applied to eligible games you completed in the past, including Xbox 360 titles. Your total sits in your profile’s Gaming tab, and each game’s achievement list shows your progress.

Games can now also be sorted by name, completion percentage, Gamerscore or achievements unlocked.

Everything else in the update

  • Startup animations: choose an animation from Xbox One through to the latest generation under Settings > System > Startup.
  • Game saves: view, sort and delete local saves that are not in use, either one at a time or all at once. Storage warnings now link straight here.
  • Profile badges: see artwork and unlock details for every badge, showcase up to five and hide individual badges. The Rewards tab is replaced by a My Rewards button on the Welcome tab.
  • Home: remove any item from the recent games and apps list, including the Play History tile. Pressing the right thumbstick on Home hides the interface to show off your background.
  • Local search: find games and achievements in My games & apps, official club achievement lists and the Gaming tab of your profile.
  • Remote Play: streaming from Xbox Series X|S now supports up to 1440p with higher bitrates on supported devices, provided the console’s display resolution is 1440p or 4K UHD.
  • Xbox Cloud Gaming: games you stream are added to My games & apps automatically, and downloads can continue in the background while you stream.
  • Disc to digital licences: licences you no longer have access to now open in a console screen rather than a web page.

Party chat infrastructure has also changed to improve reliability and security.

Bug fixes

Fixes cover Home refreshing continuously, consoles booting to a black screen, downloads appearing to pause or stop, broken images for some compilation discs, and lost focus in My games & apps. Very large libraries get memory and performance fixes too.
