What’s been announced

Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition

The X25 controller came out on 20 October 2026 for $79.99 / £74.99. It is finished in translucent OG Green, with a see-through top case, back case and, for the first time, a translucent battery door. The number 25 sits on the top case, the ABXY buttons use the original Xbox controller colours, the green Xbox button is set against black, and the bumpers and classic Xbox logo nod back to the 2001 launch. It is sold separately and also comes in the box with the X25 console.

Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition

The Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition launches on 13 November 2026 for $899.99 / £759.99. It is a translucent OG Green Xbox Series X, and every console is individually numbered with a unique engraving. The ‘X’ on the front lights up green.

Each console comes with:

  • An Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition
  • A full-game download of Halo: Campaign Evolved, the remake of the original Halo campaign

Pre-orders opened on 26 August 2026 by email invite, then to everyone in select markets on 27 August. They are limited to one per customer, and prices vary by market.

Xbox FanFest Seattle

Xbox FanFest Seattle takes place at the Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) on Thursday 12 November 2026, three days before the anniversary. It is the final stop of this year’s eight-city FanFest Tour, which has already visited Los Angeles, Cologne, Tokyo, London, Mexico City, Sydney and Toronto.

The event will include hands-on gameplay, Xbox history and artefacts, trivia, collectibles, fan activities, chances to meet the people behind the games, and an Xbox Gear pop-up shop. Places were awarded through two sweepstakes, both of which closed on 11 October 2026.

Game Pass collections and the anniversary badge

Game Pass has curated anniversary collections of games from every Xbox generation, from the original Xbox through Xbox 360 and Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S. Games in the collections include Fable Anniversary, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Fallout 4 and Psychonauts 2.

Anyone who signs in to their Xbox account on console, PC or the Xbox mobile app gets the Xbox 25th Anniversary profile badge, which can be shown on your profile. It is available until the end of 2026.

Xbox has also released free community-made gamerpics, backgrounds and a dynamic theme for consoles, designed by Klobrille and Ben Kenobi.

Xbox Gear

Xbox Gear is the new home of official Xbox merchandise at gear.xbox.com. It launched with three collections, Gloss, Est.01 and Blood Gulch, and more drops are planned.

Our coverage

Coming up on Cloudy

We’re marking the anniversary with a few pieces of our own: a timeline of 25 years of Xbox, our pick of the best Xbox game from every era, and a podcast special. Keep an eye on this page, as we’ll add them here when they’re out.

The original Xbox got me excited about gaming again, and the 360 is where my love of gaming exploded. Along the way there was Pro Evo on Xbox Live, achievements, and an Xbox One midnight launch with my son.
