Sloclap has kicked off Season 6 of Rematch today, and it finally gives all those hours on the pitch somewhere to go. Player Level is gone, replaced by a full career-style progression system built around Contracts and Badges, and it’s live now on Xbox Series X|S, PC via Xbox Play Anywhere and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
If you’ve been playing through Game Pass, you don’t need to do anything other than boot it up. Rematch is still included with Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, Essential and PC Game Pass, just as it has been since it launched day one on the service back in June 2025.
Contracts replace Player Level
The headline change is Contracts. There are ten of them, running from Baller through Rookie, Amateur, Semi-pro, Wonder, Pro, Star, Champion and Hero, all the way up to Icon. You earn experience by playing online matches, level your current Contract to its cap, then meet its requirements and upgrade to the next one, picking up rewards such as kits, celebrations, Victory Moods and profile items as you climb. Each level-up also hands out Blocks.
Contracts also gate a few features. Badges unlock at Rookie, Ranked opens up at Amateur, and from Semi-pro onwards you’ll need to slot in three Badges at the right level to move up, which also earns you titles through a new Badges synergy system.
Veterans haven’t been forgotten either. Legacy Rewards look at how far you got under the old system: anyone at Player Level 5 or higher goes straight to the Amateur Contract, with Ranked access and all the Baller, Rookie and Amateur rewards. On top of that, players are sorted into three tiers based on their highest Player Level (1 to 99, 100 and above, and the top 5,000), with each tier getting a unique cap, customisation items and profile cosmetics.
Badges show off how you actually play
Goals aren’t everything, and Badges are Sloclap’s way of saying so. They track the things you do on the pitch in online matches, whether that’s creating chances, shutting down attacks, beating players on the ball or keeping the ball out of your own net. There are ten Badge categories, including Attack, Defense, Playmaking and Goalkeeper, and each Badge has four levels marked by stars.
You can pin the ones you’re proudest of to your Player Card, where other players will see them during celebrations and post-match Victory Moods.
Vanguards vs Glitches
The season’s theme is nature versus nurture, and it plays out through two new cosmetic collections: the polished, elite Vanguards and the bold, disruptive Glitches. You’ll find the new gear in the Season 6 Captain Pass, alongside a new arena, Clouds Sunset, set high above the clouds against a glowing sunset.
Better comms and a few gameplay tweaks
The Season 6 update also overhauls Quick Chat, splitting it into Compliments, Apologies and Tactical categories with three voice-acted calls in each, from “Behind You!” to “Get Back!”. You can now send “GG!”, “Team up!” or “Thank you!” from the end-of-match screen, and Push-to-Talk is in and switched on by default, bound to down on the D-pad.
Gameplay changes are deliberately light this time. Goalkeeper invulnerability after a catch drops from 7 seconds to 4.5 seconds, Tackle Assist width is cut by 36%, Defense Mode hitboxes shrink by 10%, sprinting costs 10% less stamina and the maximum volley height for outfield players dips slightly. There’s a long list of bug fixes too.
More to come this season
The big one still on the way is Netcode 2.0, a major rework of Rematch’s online systems that Sloclap says will roll out progressively through Season 6. It moves hit detection for tackles, dives, catches and ball controls to the server, and is designed to cut down the desyncs and rollbacks players have been complaining about since launch.
Halloween and holiday events are also lined up for later in the season, along with special offers of up to 60% off. One is already running: the Elite Edition is currently 60% off on the Xbox Store.
