The Spooktacular Pack for Planet Coaster 2 is out now on Xbox Series X|S for £14.99 / $18.99. Its headline feature is Walkthrough Attractions, which let you build haunted houses, mazes and other walk-through experiences scene by scene and decide how guests react as they go.

It’s a Halloween-themed feature pack with seven rides, over 700 scenery pieces, three new entertainers and spooky makeovers for some of the park’s in-game brands.

How Walkthrough Attractions work

Walkthrough Attractions are new to Planet Coaster 2 and let guests explore a series of indoor and outdoor spaces on foot. You build them with the existing path tool: all you need is an Entrance Gate and at least one Checkpoint Gate joined by a guest path, so they can be anything from a single creepy room to a sprawling maze.

Each section has an Atmosphere set by the atmospheric scenery you link to it: Scary, Funny, Exciting or Interesting. That shapes how guests react, whether that’s suspenseful scares, magical encounters or thrilling adventures. Make a section too scary and guests may run out early, as each attraction has an Intensity rating and every guest has their own tolerance. You can also choose whether guests move through at a steady pace (Linear) or take their time (Wander), and add moments with the Event Sequencer and Reaction Points.

They aren’t limited to Halloween. Walkthrough Attractions work with every Planet Coaster 2 theme, including scenery from packs you already own, and you can build one from scratch or start from one of more than 30 Walkthrough Attraction blueprints included with the pack.

Seven rides

The pack adds seven rides: Spectre, Sledge, Bosetti, Ballista, Rumpus Room, Horror Heights and The Huntsman.

  • Spectre (Big M’s Rides) is a modular launch coaster with multiple launches.
  • Sledge (Jerry St. Lauer) glides over twisting hills.
  • Bosetti is a tracked dark ride.
  • The Huntsman (Sadie Interactive Attractions) is a tracked ride that turns dark corners.
  • Ballista is a non-inverting swinging gondola, Rumpus Room turns guests upside down, and Horror Heights sends them screaming back down from on high.

Scenery, entertainers and brand makeovers

There are more than 700 scenery pieces across the new Spooktacular theme and the returning Spooky theme, from crumbling crypts and graveyards to animatronics, pumpkins, skeletons, gargoyles and cobwebs, plus eerie decorations and atmospheric theming throughout. Sound comes from 29 ambient sounds, over 90 sound effects and 14 music tracks, and there are 20 special effects including bats, lightning, spiders, spooky flames, mist and slime.

Three ghostly entertainers join the park: Wigglebones, King Ghoster and Queen Scream. Familiar in-game brands also get Halloween makeovers, with Chief Teeth, Ghoulpee, Cosmic Cow Scare Shakes, Just a Boo-mento and Scream Emporium.

Free Update 12 arrives too

Alongside the pack, Frontier has released Update 12, a free update for all Planet Coaster 2 players. It adds Reaction Points, which trigger an Event Sequencer and a chosen guest reaction when guests come within range, plus six Photo Stand-Ins for guests to pose with (Aquatic, Resort, Mythology, Planet Coaster, Viking and a plain one you can design yourself) and 25 free damage and dirt decals. The full list is in the Update 12 notes.

Is it on Game Pass?

Planet Coaster 2 itself has been on Game Pass Ultimate, Premium and PC Game Pass since April, and costs £39.99 / $49.99 to buy outright. The Spooktacular Pack isn’t included, so it’s a separate purchase either way, and you need the base game to play it.
