Mimic, a sci-fi social-deduction multiplayer horror game from Ryan Laley Games, launched in Early Access today, with the Xbox Series X|S version due in 2027. There’s no firmer Xbox date yet.

Mimic is developed and self-published by Ryan Laley Games, which was founded in 2023. Ryan Laley is a game development educator known for his YouTube and Twitch tutorials.

What is Mimic?

You wake from cryo-sleep on the starship Icarus, bound for the human colony of Eden, to find there’s been a quarantine breach. The ship’s AI has locked navigation and set a self-destruct course into a nearby star. Your crew has to repair the ship’s systems to escape, while working out who among you is the mimic, an alien that can disguise itself as a human survivor.

The mimic isn’t the only secret role. A corporate agent wants it to survive for study, and an NPC android roams the ship hunting any organic life. Nobody has weapons, but the “Accuse to Survive” vote lets you send the android after a player you don’t trust. There’s also proximity chat, and dead players come back as an invisible Omen who can sabotage the environment.
