Croc is finally getting a proper sequel on Xbox. Argonaut Games has confirmed that development on its Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos remaster is complete, and it launches digitally on 29 October 2026 for Xbox Series X|S.

That’s less than a week away. If you’ve been waiting since the first remaster to find out where the little crocodile goes next, this is the answer.

What is Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos?

It’s a remaster of the 1999 platformer released as plain old Croc 2. The new version brings back Kingdom of the Gobbos, the title the game had during development, and adds enhanced visuals and a range of quality-of-life improvements.

The story is more personal this time. Croc finds a message in a bottle on the beach at Gobbo Valley telling him his birth parents are looking for him, so he heads for the mainland to find them. It doesn’t stay a family reunion for long. The Dantinis have resurrected Baron Dante, and the Baron wants revenge on the crocodile who beat him the first time.

There are more than 40 levels of open-ended 3D platforming spread across four villages, each home to a different Gobbo culture: the coastal Sailor Village, the wintry Cossack Village, the prehistoric Caveman Village and the mountaintop Inca Village. You’ll rescue captured Gobbos, take on missions and spend crystals at Swap Meet Pete’s General Store, where the cat shopkeeper can also teleport you between villages.

The Guardians are as odd as you’d hope. Soveena the Squid’s obsession with Ginger Soda makes her a menace to the Sailor Village. Cannon Boat Keith is a pirate captain with a skeleton crew, and Flavio the Thermal Fish spits scalding water.

Croc’s jump and tail spin are back, and he now has a triple jump for extra height. He also gets plenty of vehicles: minecarts, cars, speedboats, a hang glider and a wooden airplane.

The Croc2pedia is back for round two

Like the Crocipedia in the first remaster, Croc 2 includes an in-game digital museum. The Croc2pedia is packed with never-before-seen development materials, including design documents, animation tests, cut content and 3D model galleries of characters, levels and items that didn’t make the final game. The headline item is the 90-minute Croc2mentary, which features interviews with the original Argonaut team and the remaster developers.

“Players now have a date for their next adventure with Croc, October 29,” said Mike Arkin, co-CEO of Argonaut Games. “This remaster brings together the original’s open-ended 3D platforming, enhanced visuals, and quality-of-life improvements. We look forward to welcoming fans back to the Kingdom of the Gobbos and introducing new players to this beloved sequel.”

Argonaut founder Jez San OBE added: “Croc 2 takes Croc beyond his first adventure, with four distinct villages, new ways to explore, and his search for his long-lost parents at the heart of the story.”
