Aya Games’ dialogue-free horror puzzle-platformer Ayasa: Shadows of Silence is out now on Xbox Series X|S. The studio confirmed the launch today in a press release and on its official X account, and the game is live on the Microsoft Store.

If you buy early, it’s a little cheaper. The Microsoft Store has it at £13.39 / $15.99, down from £16.74 / $19.99, with that launch price running until 10 November.

What is Ayasa: Shadows of Silence?

The game is set in the Inverted World, a realm once kept in balance between light and shadow by Tas, the Absolute. War has wrecked that balance, and six lands (Faith, Hope, Love, Greed, Indifference and Betrayal) are being swallowed by darkness. You play as Ayasa, a young girl travelling alone, who sets out to recover what’s left of Tas’s light.

It’s a 2.5D game built around observation rather than combat. You use light to reveal hidden paths and wake up ancient machines, solve environmental puzzles, and rely on timing and stealth to slip past threats you can’t take on directly. Aya Games says the mysteries you leave unsolved can pull Ayasa towards the darkness and change who she becomes, and the store listing says your choices can lead to different endings.

There’s no spoken dialogue at all. The story plays out through movement, surreal imagery and music, with a soundtrack by Arman Msryan that draws on the work of Armenian composer Komitas. The studio lists Tim Burton, René Laloux, Robert Sahakyants, Hayao Miyazaki and Sergei Parajanov among the influences on its art direction.

“Ayasa was always meant to speak without words. We wanted players to feel the story rather than read it.” – Edgar Janoyan, Founder and CEO, Aya Games

Who’s behind it?

Aya Games is an independent studio of 10+ people working across Armenia and the United States. Ayasa: Shadows of Silence is its debut game, and it first launched in November 2025 before arriving on Xbox today.
