Wartales is heading into the saddle. Shiro Games has announced Knights of Fardensa, a new expansion bringing cavalry combat, knightly orders and a whole new region to its medieval tactical RPG. It launches on 9 December 2026 on PC, but there’s no word yet on Xbox.
Shiro Games announced the expansion on 4 November. The base game is already on the Xbox Store, and earlier expansions such as Pirates of Belerion and The Skelmar Invasion are listed there too, but Knights of Fardensa has no Xbox listing yet.
Wartales: Knights of Fardensa and Xbox
- Xbox status: Not yet announced for Xbox
- Base game on Xbox: Available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and cloud
- Announced price: £16.99 / $19.99
- Game Pass: Wartales is not currently on Game Pass
What’s in Knights of Fardensa
The expansion heads to the Renaissance-inspired realm of Fardensa, where political conflict threatens the Ald Hertogg family’s grip on the region’s trade and horses. You’ll pick a side in a clash of powerful estates, with every move your Warband makes carrying consequences.
- A new region: pastoral landscapes, fertile farmland and herds of wild horses.
- A two-act campaign: work your way through it to earn the title of Knight.
- Knightly trials: summon a powerful ally to battle and tame legendary horses.
- New kit: lances, new weapons, horse tack, helmets, shields, oils, accessories, recipes and crafting ingredients.
A free update for everyone
Alongside the paid expansion, Wartales gets a free major update adding the Horseman Mastery Class for all mercenaries, so existing troops can become mounted fighters. You’ll also be able to breed horses at Trading Posts, combining inherited traits to raise mounts for specific tactical roles.
“Mounted combat is something our community has been requesting for quite some time now,” said Quentin Lapeyre, Game Director at Shiro Games. “With the free update, players can develop any mercenary into a Horseman and add cavalry to their ranks without replacing the characters they’ve developed.”
What Xbox players can expect
Shiro Games hasn’t confirmed a date or price for Knights of Fardensa on Xbox, nor said whether the free Horseman update will arrive on console at the same time. Previous expansions have made it to the Xbox Store, so it’s worth keeping an eye on the Wartales hub, which we’ll update as soon as there’s news.
