Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has been out on Xbox for a week, and now you can listen to it without anyone shouting at you over voice chat. Lakeshore Records and Activision have released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 – Original Score digitally today, 30 October, with music by Stephen Barton and Jason Graves.
It’s a hefty one, too: 35 tracks, which you can stream from the official album link.
Who made the music
Grammy winner Stephen Barton scores the campaign, which moves between the Korean Peninsula, New York, Paris and Mumbai. Lakeshore describes his score as thunderous orchestration, joined by South Korean post-rock band JAMBINAI and by Luna Lee on the gayageum, a Korean stringed instrument. BAFTA winner Jason Graves handles the multiplayer music. Veteran score producer Jonathan Mayer and his team at Spider Farm Productions produced the album for Infinity Ward.
“It’s amazing to be back, almost 20 years after the first Modern Warfare, to the franchise that really defined an era of gaming,” said Barton.
Graves summed his part up in a single word: “If I had to choose one word to describe the score, it would be ‘swagger.’ It was so much fun going back to my bass guitar and drum set roots, then mixing everything up with our incredible live musicians. If your head is nodding, my mission is complete.”
Barton’s tracks take up the first 25 slots, starting with the title theme “Modern Warfare 4” featuring JAMBINAI. Graves’s multiplayer cues follow at 26 to 33. To finish, there’s a remix of “Off the List” by Brain and Melissa, plus “Argonaut” from Steve Ouimette.
