Somebody at Netflix has clearly been dropping into Pochinki. PUBG is being made into a live-action series for the streaming service, and Donald Glover is set to direct, write, executive produce and star in it.
KRAFTON confirmed the news in a press release, saying the series is in development at Netflix. Glover, a two-time Emmy and Golden Globe winner best known for Atlanta and Community, is handling pretty much every big job on the show apart from catering.
Who’s making the PUBG series?
Donald Glover will direct, write, executive produce and star. His brother Stephen Glover joins him as a writer and executive producer. The pair previously worked together on Atlanta.
The rest of the executive producers are:
- Michael Schaefer for NEON TV
- Fam Udeorji for Gilga
- Taeseok Jang and Sujin Lee for LV3H, KRAFTON’s entertainment arm
LV3H is involved in developing and producing the series. KRAFTON calls PUBG “a global cultural icon” with seven Guinness World Records, and says it’s expanding the franchise into original entertainment.
What we don’t know yet
Quite a lot, to be fair. KRAFTON hasn’t announced a release date, any other cast members or how many episodes there will be. There’s no word on the story either, which is an interesting puzzle for a battle royale that doesn’t really have one. It’s 100 people, one island and a shrinking circle. Fill in the rest yourself.

PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS on Xbox
If you fancy some homework before the show arrives, PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS is free to play on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. It’s also not short of things going on right now. The IVE ‘LOVE DIVE’ collaboration lands on Xbox on 12 November, and there’s a tabletop spin-off too, in the shape of PUBG: Final Circle.
