The battle royale you drop into on Xbox is heading to the tabletop. Seoul studio CardMonster has announced PUBG: Final Circle, a physical trick-taking card game for two to five players based on KRAFTON’s PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, and its Kickstarter pre-launch page is live now.
To be clear, this isn’t a new Xbox release. Final Circle is a card game you play around a table, and CardMonster hasn’t announced any link to the Xbox version of PUBG. It’s an officially licensed spin-off of the same battle royale, though, so the goal will be familiar: loot up, fight and be the last survivor standing.
How does PUBG: Final Circle play?
It’s a battle royale built on trick-taking, the card game mechanic where each player plays a card and the strongest one wins the round. Here, those rounds are the fights. You draw loot, play cards to win combats and try to outlast everyone else at the table.
CardMonster says you can grab a booster pack and jump straight in, with no deckbuilding and no setup. Every illustration is hand-drawn by the studio’s artists, and a behind-the-scenes video shows artist Ryan Smallman taking a card from first sketch to finished art.
Where can you play it?
Final Circle was playable at SPIEL Essen in Germany from 22 to 25 October, after an early look at the PUBG booth at ComplexCon. The next step is Kickstarter. The pre-launch page is up now, and you can sign up there to get an alert when the campaign starts.
CardMonster hasn’t announced a campaign start date, pledge prices or a release date yet.
