The next Elder Scrolls game will be called The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel, a new report claims, and Bethesda could announce the name as soon as next month.
The report comes from Tom Warren in his Notepad newsletter for The Verge, citing sources familiar with Bethesda’s plans. Bethesda hasn’t confirmed the name, and the game is still officially known only as The Elder Scrolls VI.
A name reveal around Skyrim’s anniversary
Warren reports that the announcement could come during the period marking 15 years since The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim launched on 11 November 2011. He says he expects only the name to be revealed next month, with nothing more about the game itself.
Bethesda first confirmed The Elder Scrolls VI with a short teaser at E3 2018, which showed only a coastal landscape and the logo. Bethesda Game Studios has shared little since. In a studio note in July, it said The Elder Scrolls VI is its “primary development focus today, with the majority of our team currently working on the next chapter of the franchise”, adding: “We’re where we planned to be, loving how it looks, and playing it every day.”
Gameplay reportedly shown to Xbox leadership
Warren also reports that Bethesda has been showing Sentinel gameplay in recent months. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma reportedly saw a live playthrough in August, praised the scale of the game and said “the story is even greater.”

Possible setting (light spoilers)

Warren says he understands Sentinel will be set in Hammerfell, a province of Tamriel that has appeared in The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard and The Elder Scrolls Online. He also reports that it will be the first game about the history of the Elder Scrolls themselves, and will help uncover the secrets of the series’ mysterious ancient artifacts. None of this has been confirmed by Bethesda.
