An upgraded version of Karate Survivor is out now on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. It replaces the Creators Edition, adds Xbox Play Anywhere, and is free for everyone who already owns the original Xbox release.
Alawar released the new version on 28 October. It costs £4.99 / $5.99.
What the upgrade changes
Karate Survivor first arrived on Xbox as a Creators Edition. The new release replaces it and brings full Xbox Play Anywhere support, so one purchase covers Xbox consoles and PC, with your saves and achievements shared between them. You can carry on your progress across supported devices without starting over.
If you own the Creators Edition, you get the upgraded version at no extra cost.
What is Karate Survivor?
It’s a fast-paced survivor-style roguelite inspired by ’80s martial arts movies. You fight through waves of goons and bandits using whatever you can grab, from baseball bats and mops to plastic flamingos and a child’s toy hammer. You can also use the environment, pushing objects into enemies, bringing down scaffolding or slamming foes with a microwave door.
Dozens of attacks can be chained into combos of up to six moves, so you can build a fighting style that suits you. Between runs, you spend experience on permanent techniques and skills, and each location ends with a boss battle.
