Croc and Croc 2 Are Getting Physical Xbox Releases From PM Studios

PM Studios has announced physical Xbox releases of Croc Legend of the Gobbos Platinum Edition and Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos, in partnership with Argonaut Games.

Boxed games are becoming a rarer sight, so it is worth noting whenever a new Xbox one is announced. PM Studios has now confirmed physical Xbox releases of Croc Legend of the Gobbos Platinum Edition and Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos, working in partnership with Argonaut Games.

The announcement came from PM Studios on X on 23 October. Its post says both games are “getting a physical XBOX release” and shows box art for each. (The post calls the sequel “Legend of the Gobbos”, but the box art and the Microsoft Store both say Kingdom of the Gobbos.)

What has been announced

  • Croc Legend of the Gobbos Platinum Edition: Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, according to the box art PM Studios shared. Our Croc Legend of the Gobbos hub has the full game details.
  • Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos: Xbox Series X|S, which matches the platform list on the Microsoft Store. You can read more on our Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos hub.

PM Studios has not published a price or release date in its post. Canadian retailer Video Games Plus has pre-orders open for both at $69.99 CAD each, with a release date of 31 March 2027. The shop labels that date a placeholder and says release dates are subject to change. You can find the listings for Croc Legend of the Gobbos Platinum Edition and Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos. PNP Games Online Store also lists Croc 2 at the same price and estimated ship date.

The box art shown carries a US ESRB rating, and we have not seen any UK or European retailers, pricing or release plans yet. We will update this article if PM Studios shares more. It has not yet said what is in the box, such as extras or how the game is supplied.

Why this matters for Xbox players

Physical Xbox releases from smaller publishers have never been guaranteed. In December 2024, Argonaut Games told fans there was “almost no demand for Xbox physical” for the first Croc remaster, and pointed to minimum manufacturing runs, as reported by Pure Xbox. As far as we are aware, these are the first boxed Xbox releases announced for the Croc remasters.

In our view, that is why this announcement is worth celebrating. As the industry shifts further towards digital storefronts and fewer games get a boxed release, a publisher choosing to put a smaller, retro-flavoured title on a shelf is a vote for physical games. PM Studios deserves credit for keeping that option alive for Xbox players.

For collectors, we think the appeal is simple. A boxed copy gives you something to display next to the rest of your library, and for a game with this much history, that matters. Croc is a 1990s favourite that is now back on Xbox, and it makes sense that fans want a version that does not live only in a digital library.

Where to play Croc on Xbox today

You do not have to wait for the physical editions to play. Croc Legend of the Gobbos is on the Microsoft Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S at £24.99 as of 24 October. The sequel launches digitally for Xbox Series X|S on 29 October, and you can wishlist Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos now. Neither game is on Game Pass. We covered the sequel’s launch in our earlier article on the Croc 2 remaster.
