8BitDo’s next-generation Ultimate controller for Xbox has landed. The 8BitDo Ultimate 3E Controller for Xbox is shipping across the UK and Europe from today, 23 October 2026, priced at £124.99. In the US it’s listed at $149.99 on 8BitDo’s own eShop and Amazon US.

It’s officially licensed by Xbox and works on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, as well as Windows 10 and 11 PCs. The big selling point? You can pull bits off it and swap them for different ones, so you can set up the feel to suit you rather than living with whatever came out of the box.

Swap the buttons, sticks and D-pad

The Ultimate 3E is built around modular parts, and they’re all in the box. You get two ABXY modules: a smooth silicone one and a tactile micro-switch one, so you can choose between two very different button feels on the same pad. There are also two D-pads, a standard one for classic precision and a circular one for smoother rolls.

The sticks get the same treatment. Two standard thumbsticks come fitted, and the accessory pack adds two tall sticks, one thick-neck stick and one dome stick. Swap them around for different games, or just keep the setup you like best.

TMR sticks, Hall-effect triggers and back buttons

Under the hood, the thumbsticks use TMR technology paired with a 12-bit ADC sampling chip, which 8BitDo says gives you better precision and stability. RGB Fire Rings around each stick light up as you play.

The Hall-effect Impulse Triggers have two trigger-stop levels you can switch between: a short pull for shooters, the full travel for racing games. On top of the usual layout you get two extra fast bumpers (L4 and R4) that you can remap without software, two back buttons and three custom profiles. There’s a 3.5mm audio jack for headphones on Xbox, too.

8BitDo has gone for a brand-new shape here as well. The grip angle is wider than before, and silicone side grips should help it stay put when things get tense.

A wireless charging dock that doubles as a signal booster

On Xbox and Windows PC, the controller connects over low-latency 2.4GHz wireless through an included USB-C adapter, or by wire over USB. The included charging dock charges the pad wirelessly with no contact points, and magnets line it up for you. Lift the controller off and it reconnects straight away.

Here’s the neat bit: leave the 2.4G adapter in the dock, plug the dock into your Xbox or PC over USB, and it acts as a signal extender to strengthen the connection and cut latency. You turn that on in 8BitDo’s free Ultimate Software X, which also handles button mapping, stick sensitivity, trigger ranges, vibration strength and firmware updates.

The 1,400mAh rechargeable battery is rated for up to 18 hours of play, with a full charge taking around four to five hours. Two features are PC only: the 1,000Hz polling rate and 6-axis motion control. Neither works on Xbox consoles, so don’t buy it expecting gyro aiming on your Series X.

Price and where to buy

The 8BitDo Ultimate 3E Controller for Xbox costs £124.99 in the UK and $149.99 in the US. It’s on sale now through Amazon UK, the 8BitDo eShop and other major retailers. That’s premium money, and it puts the 3E up against the pricier pro pads, but there’s a lot of kit in the box. You can find the full specs on 8BitDo’s official product page.
