What is Pentiment?

It’s a historical mystery with a living, illustrated art style inspired by illuminated manuscripts and printed woodcuts. You play Andreas Maler, a master artist in early 16th-century Bavaria who gets caught up in a series of murders at Kiersau Abbey and the nearby town of Tassing.

You choose Andreas’s academic and social background, and the decisions you make shape the community’s future. The story spans twenty-five years, so the consequences play out across generations.

Who makes it?

Pentiment is developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Xbox Game Studios.

When did it come out on Xbox?

It launched on 15 November 2022 on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. It’s an Xbox Play Anywhere game, so one purchase covers both Xbox console and PC.

Is Pentiment on Game Pass?

Yes. It’s included with Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass.
