Arcade-style beat ’em up Fallen City Brawl is out now on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, and it’s an Xbox Play Anywhere game, so one purchase also covers Xbox on PC. It costs £12.49 / $14.99, with a 10% launch discount bringing it to £11.24 / $13.49 until 12 November.

The game was created by Fallen City Studio, headed by Mike Wells, and has been brought to Xbox by eastasiasoft, which worked closely with the studio and publishes it worldwide.

Four strangers and a wolf

Fallen City Brawl is a side-scrolling “belt-scroller” inspired by the arcade beat ’em ups of the late ’80s and early ’90s. As a battle for control of Fallen City’s criminal underworld rages, four strangers team up, with a ferocious wolf at their side, to take back the streets.

You fight through seven stages, from city streets to subways and snowfields, using combos, counters, air-throws, grapples, parries and specials. Weapons such as pipes, bats, knives, oil drums and hammers can be picked up along the way, and screen-clearing “RIOT” super attacks are there for when things get out of hand. You can play solo or with friends in local co-op.

The story is told through animated cutscenes, and the soundtrack is by composer Daniel Lindholm.
