Italian studio R-Games has announced Astral Dive, a story-driven fantasy RPG headed to Xbox Series X|S in early 2027.

The debut title mixes hand-drawn pixel art, deck-building combat and an interdimensional adventure story, billed as a love letter to classic 2D role-playing games with modern twists.

Atlas, astral portals and seven worlds

You play as Atlas, a young mage investigating mysterious events that shook his magic academy years ago. To uncover the truth he crosses into new dimensions through astral portals, picking up allies with their own pasts and abilities along the way.

R-Games says the journey takes in seven different locations, each with its own characters, mysteries and lore fragments that feed back into the academy’s history and Atlas’s fate.

Stellar Tiles combat

Combat blends classic turn-based JRPG planning with magical cards called Stellar Tiles. You collect spells, build custom decks and look for synergies against odd creatures and large bosses, while an interactive tile system lets you manipulate the battlefield.

Key features, according to the studio:

  • Tactical card combat with custom spell decks and elemental combos
  • Hand-crafted, multi-layered pixel art environments, animations and spell effects
  • Interdimensional narrative across astral portals, companions and academy mysteries

Astral Dive is in active development with an early 2027 target. No Xbox Store page, price or Game Pass plans have been announced yet. Follow R-Games for further gameplay reveals.
