Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World is a monster-raising role-playing game from Square Enix. Players befriend monsters from across the Dragon Quest series, raise them, synthesise new creatures and pit them against other monsters in battle, following the young monster wranglers Bianca and Nera.

Gameplay

Each monster has its own traits and attributes and can learn talents, allowing parties to be tuned to a playstyle. Two monsters can be combined through synthesis to create a stronger creature. Monsters follow the player while exploring, regardless of type or size, and the world uses a distinctive visual style in which new areas are revealed beyond the curve of the horizon. Online features allow battles against other players.

Platforms, editions and release date

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World releases on 3 December 2026 for Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC as an Xbox Play Anywhere title. The standard edition and a Digital Deluxe Edition are listed on the Xbox Store, and a demo is available. The Xbox version supports Xbox Play Anywhere and is rated PEGI 12.
