When did The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu come out on Xbox?
The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu launched on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC on 15 July 2026.
Is The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu on Game Pass?
No. It isn’t included with any Game Pass tier, so it’s a straight purchase. We’ll update this page if that changes.
How much is The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu?
The Standard Edition is £24.99 / $29.99 on the Microsoft Store. It’s an Xbox Play Anywhere game, so one purchase covers Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC.
The Deluxe Edition adds the Temple of Yig Exclusive Mission pack (an extra contract in its own area of the jungle), the Fortune Hunters Characters Pack with two more playable characters, and the Abyssal Gear Pack of looks for the knife, oil lamp, matchlock musket and flintlock musket. If you already own the Standard Edition, an Upgrade to Deluxe is also available.
How does The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu play?
You can play solo or in online co-op with up to four players. Aboard a galleon, you sign a contract with the captain to receive gear in exchange for the treasure you bring back, split weapons and equipment among your party and choose which area of the jungle to explore next. The further you go, the more dangerous it gets.
Once ashore you rely on proximity voice chat to coordinate. A madness system inspired by H.P. Lovecraft plays with your perception, blurring what’s real and sowing paranoia within the group. Recovering logbooks from abandoned forts unlocks them as new starting points for future expeditions, as you push deeper in search of the Mound and its treasure.
What’s in the Cult of Tsathoggua update?
The free Halloween update, released on 29 October 2026, adds a quest to collect six Eyes of Tsathoggua from shrines and unlock Tsathoggua’s Lair, an underground map with a colossal boss that conventional weapons can’t hurt. Beating it earns the Eye of Servitude, a relic that turns monsters against each other.
It also revamps the Treasure Shrines, where some cursed treasures alert monsters, summon creatures or damage whoever carries them, and adds a Frog-Fishman enemy, the Swivel Breech Flintlock and a Hand Grenade. Progression has been reworked as well: the level cap rises to 70, and skill points unlock abilities such as bleed resistance, extra stamina and faster movement. There are more sanity effects too, including hallucinated weapons, plus Halloween decorations on the galleon. Read our full story on the update.
