Hela: of Mice & Magic is a 3D open-world adventure from Windup, a studio based in Umeå in northern Sweden. You play as a brave little mouse, one of the familiars of a kind witch who has looked after the forest for generations.

How much does it cost?
A price hasn’t been announced yet. We’ll add it here once pre-orders open.
Is there a physical edition?
Yes. A limited Harmony Edition comes to Xbox Series X in physical form from December, through selected retailers. Xbox Series S is digital only.
Is there a demo?
Yes, but only on PC. The free Hela: of Mice & Magic Demo is available through the Xbox app until 9 November. It’s a self-contained story on a map made for the demo, with local split-screen co-op. Our demo news has the details.
What is the story?
The witch who has always protected the land is growing ill, and the world is falling out of harmony. Her tiniest familiars have to leave the shelter of home and take on the work she can no longer do alone. She can’t go with them, but her magic is never far away and can lift them back to safety.
How does it play?
- Explore: forests, meadows, wetlands, mountain trails and lakes inspired by northern Sweden, where everyday objects become obstacles and tools at mouse size.
- Brew Remedies: gather ingredients, then brew at the witch’s cottage. Each recipe is a hands-on process, and Remedies open up new paths and new ways to solve puzzles.
- Meet Froggy: your magical backpack helps you leap, swing, glide, gather resources and solve puzzles.
- Help others: lend a paw to animals and communities to restore harmony to the land.
Can you play it in co-op?
Yes. Play solo, with a friend in local split-screen, or in online co-op for up to four players. Solo players get the Shade System, which creates magical copies of your mouse to help with puzzles.
