The free Hela: of Mice & Magic demo is playable on PC through the Xbox app until 9 November, ahead of the full game’s day-one Game Pass launch on 1 December.
The Hela: of Mice & Magic Demo from Windup and Knights Peak has been out since 8 October, and you have until 9 November to play it. It’s a PC-only demo, so there’s no console version to try before launch.
Hela: of Mice & Magic is a 3D open-world adventure where you play as a mouse familiar helping a kind witch who is falling ill to care for the land she has protected for generations.
What’s in the demo?
The demo is a self-contained story on a map made just for it, set in a secluded area inspired by northern Sweden. You need to rekindle the witch’s protective warding magic and collect enough Glimmer to find your way back to her cottage.
- Explore freely, glide, and solve physics-based environmental puzzles with Froggy, your magic backpack.
- Play solo or with a friend in local split-screen co-op.
- Playing alone, the Shade System lets you summon magical copies of your mouse to help with puzzles.
The full game adds a much larger open world, more quests, brewing and Remedies, and online co-op for up to four players.
