Thronefall is a minimalist strategy game where you build a small kingdom by day and defend it by night. It was created by Grizzly Games and is published by Mythwright, which the Microsoft Store lists as both developer and publisher.

When is the Thronefall Xbox release date?

Thronefall launches on Xbox on Wednesday 11 November 2026. The official Thronefall account confirmed the date on X on 24 September, and the Microsoft Store listing gives a release time of 14:00 GMT.

Is Thronefall on Game Pass?

Yes, according to its makers. The official Thronefall post says it’s coming to Xbox “(inc. Game Pass!)” on 11 November. Xbox hasn’t announced it on Xbox Wire or added it to its “Coming to Game Pass” collection yet, so treat that as the publisher’s word until Xbox confirms it. A Game Pass launch like this would land in Game Pass Ultimate. It’s part of our Xbox Game Pass November 2026 line-up.

Price and Play Anywhere

The Microsoft Store doesn’t show a price or pre-order yet. It does confirm Xbox Play Anywhere, so one purchase covers Xbox Series X|S and the Xbox PC app.

What kind of game is Thronefall?

By day you balance your economy and your defences: you fortify walls, recruit troops and expand your kingdom. When night falls, waves of increasingly strong enemies try to overwhelm you, and as the King you lead from the front. The sun only rises once they’re all dead, and if your Castle Center is razed, you lose. It’s built for quick sessions or long “fortification marathons”.

Key features

  • 10 maps: from the mountainous Nordfels to the vibrant Wildbach, each with its own terrain, weather, enemies and challenges.
  • 9 unlockable weapons: from the Battleaxe to the Blood Wand.
  • 50+ perks: take up to five into a run, plus optional Mutators to ramp up the difficulty.
  • Buildings: Walls, Barricades, Shrines, Towers, Houses, Gold Mines, Harbors, Mills and more. Economic buildings pay out gold every morning, if they survive.
  • Army: Knights, Berserks, Crossbowmen, Fire Archers and heroes such as Golems and Mages.

Craaghelm expansion and the Royal Wardrobe

Thronefall’s first expansion, Craaghelm, also launches on 11 November. According to Mythwright’s announcement, you play the last Dwarven King, heading into the mountain to reclaim your ancestral halls from mechanical Constructs. It adds:

  • Eight new themed maps, with moving platforms, lava streams and blocked choke points
  • New units, including Axe Throwers, Automatons and Airships
  • Ancient heroes: the Technician, the Siege Engineer and Dwarven Spirit Warriors
  • New enemies, including the Clockwork Oliphaunt, Loot Goblins and Leap Bots
  • New weapons, the Dragon’s Roar and the dual-shield Twin Bastions, plus new perks and mutators

Craaghelm is a separate purchase that requires the base game, and its Xbox price hasn’t been announced yet. The Royal Wardrobe update is already out and adds 20 pieces of attire for customising your ruler.
