No, GTA 6 is not on Game Pass at launch. Grand Theft Auto VI launches on Xbox Series X|S on Thursday 19 November 2026 as a paid game only, from £69.99 / $79.99 on the Xbox store, and neither Rockstar Games, Take-Two nor Xbox has announced any Game Pass deal for it.

Is GTA 6 on Game Pass?
No. The Xbox store listing for Grand Theft Auto VI is a standard paid pre-order and isn’t linked to any Game Pass plan. It isn’t in the official Game Pass catalogue or “Coming to Game Pass” list either (checked 26 October 2026), and Xbox Wire’s launch trailer post on 23 October doesn’t mention Game Pass either.
That matches what Take-Two has been saying for years. In August 2024, chief executive Strauss Zelnick told GamesIndustry.biz: “I think that offering a frontline title with a premium price in a subscription service, day and date, will push consumers to that subscription service for at least a period of time.” When asked whether that would change Take-Two’s approach, he said: “No, it won’t affect our decisions. Because our decisions are rational.”

Will GTA 6 come to Game Pass later?
Nothing has been announced.
What Take-Two has said is that subscriptions suit older games better. In a 2022 interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Zelnick said: “It doesn’t make sense to do that for frontline properties in our opinion.” He added that subscriptions “can be potentially great for catalog properties. Those are properties that have been in the market for a while if their price has been reduced.”
GTA V has joined and left Game Pass several times. Xbox Wire announced returns on 5 July 2023, and again on 15 April 2025 (console, cloud and PC). It then left Game Pass on 15 April 2026.
Our expectation, not an announcement: based on that history and Take-Two’s comments, if GTA 6 ever does come to Game Pass, it’s likely to be years after launch rather than months.
GTA 6 release date and time on Xbox
Grand Theft Auto VI launches on Thursday 19 November 2026 on Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar confirmed the date on its Newswire.
Rockstar hasn’t announced an official unlock time. The UK Xbox store’s listing data sets the release for midnight UK time on 19 November, and the US store’s data sets it for midnight Eastern Time.
GTA 6 price and editions

The boxed version contains a download code, not a disc, according to Rockstar Support.
GTA 6 pre-order and pre-load
Digital pre-orders and purchases made before 20 November 2026 include the Vintage Vice City Pack (a ’55 Vapid Stanier and garage, outfits, hairstyles and a weapon pattern). Digital pre-orders also get one month of GTA+, Rockstar’s own membership.
Digital pre-orders can be pre-loaded from 12am GMT on Tuesday 10 November 2026, according to Rockstar. That’s midnight UK time, and 7pm ET / 4pm PT on Monday 9 November.
