Total War: SHOGUN 2 – Complete Edition is off sale on Steam for now. Existing owners keep their access, and if you already own it, you can still stream it on GeForce NOW.
What happened
SEGA and Creative Assembly released Total War: SHOGUN 2 – Complete Edition on Steam on October 13, priced at $40 with a $10 upgrade for owners of the original. Two days later, the game was off sale.
Players reacted fast. The main complaints were AI-looking upscaled art and bugs, and the game sat at “Overwhelmingly Negative” on Steam user reviews.
On October 15, SEGA and Creative Assembly said the current experience “is not where it needs to be.” They are working with platform holders to take the game off sale while they investigate, and existing owners can still access and play it.
Why a Steam pause doesn’t mean the game is gone
A Steam sales pause doesn’t automatically remove a game from GeForce NOW. Pulling a game from a storefront and pulling it from a streaming library are separate decisions. Games delisted from Steam often stay playable on GeForce NOW for players who already own them, and NVIDIA listed this one among its new additions in this week’s GFN Thursday post.
What it means for GeForce NOW players
If you already own Total War: SHOGUN 2 – Complete Edition on Steam, you can still stream it on GeForce NOW. If you don’t own it yet, you can’t buy it on Steam right now.
The publishers say the original Total War: SHOGUN 2 is set to return to the store while the remaster is investigated.
Our take
Pulling a remaster two days after launch is a big call, and it shows how badly the reaction landed. Delistings like this aren’t unusual, and they don’t have to mean a game disappears for everyone. A Steam pause is not the same as removal from GeForce NOW. At $40, the remaster has a hard road back, and the real test is whether the fixes arrive.
