Dead Island 2 Finally Goes Gold and Gets a New Release Date

After years of development hell, Dead Island 2, the sequel to the popular zombie survival game, has finally gone gold and is ready to launch on April 21, 2023. The announcement was made by publisher Deep Silver and developer Dambuster Studios, who expressed their thrill and relief at the completion of the project. It is unclear if the game will be coming to GeForce NOW but I believe there is a good chance of it landing.

Dead Island 2 was first announced in 2014, with a cinematic trailer that showed a sunny California overrun by the undead. The game was originally developed by Yager Development, but was later handed over to Sumo Digital in 2016, and then to Dambuster Studios in 2019. The game suffered from multiple delays and cancellations, and many fans feared that it would never see the light of day.

However, the game resurfaced in 2022, with a new gameplay trailer that was shown during the gamescom’s Opening Night Live event. The trailer revealed that the game would take place in Los Angeles, now nicknamed HELL-A, and that the players would take the role of immune survivors who can harness the tainted powers of the virus. The trailer also showcased the game’s over-the-top action, dark humor, and co-op multiplayer mode.

According to the official website, Dead Island 2 will feature a variety of weapons, vehicles, and environments to explore and fight in. The game will also have a dynamic day and night cycle, and a branching story that will depend on the players’ choices. The game will also introduce a new feature called Rest XP, which will allow the players to earn bonus XP over time when they are logged out or skilling in the fort. Rest XP can be used to boost the XP gain of any skill in the game.

Dead Island 2 will release on Xbox Series X and Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, and the Epic Games Store for PC. The game is available for pre-order now, and the pre-order bonus includes a digital soundtrack, a digital art book, and a special weapon skin. The game will also have a collector’s edition, which will include a physical copy of the game, a steelbook case, a 12-inch zombie statue, a map of HELL-A, and more.
