BALL x PIT Might Be My Most Enjoyable Game of the Year and it gets New Updates

It might not be sweeping the Game Awards but if you ask me what I actually enjoyed playing the most this year the answer is easily BALL x PIT. It has scratched an itch I did not know I had and clearly I am not alone since Devolver Digital just announced that the game has officially crossed 1 million players since launch.

But the best news is not the player count. The real excitement is that we are getting a massive amount of post-launch support. Just when I thought I could put the game down developer Kenny Sun is pulling me back in with a confirmed roadmap of three major updates throughout 2026.

A Full Year of Free Updates

The roadmap kicks off almost immediately in January with the Regal update which tells us to raise our pinky. That is followed by a darker turn in April with the Shadow update before taking us back to basics in July with the Naturalist update.

All of this content is going to be free for existing owners so we don’t have to worry about buying a season pass just to keep playing.

Why I Am Diving Back In

What I love about this announcement is that these are not just small balance patches. We are getting the works including new balls and fresh evolutions alongside more buildings for our cities. The developer also confirmed there will be entirely new characters to recruit which is exactly the kind of support a roguelike needs to stay fresh.

We are still waiting on the specific details for the January drop but frankly I am just happy for the excuse to dive back in. I have got balls to fuse.

What is your feelings on this?
